Random Reading List note…
Matt asked me to put all articles in Instapaper-friendly format, and I’m trying!  A few sites act junky when I do it though, most notably NY Magazine.  They use an applet of some sort for print format and I can’t get past it, so you’ll just have to make do. I wouldn’t be surprised if other sites follow suit.

ocatbusmycatbus: Today a couple years back, a prominent doctor who performed late-term abortions was shot in the head while attending his church service. I won’t rehash the stuff going around, about how late-aborted pregnancies tend to be wanted pregnancies, or why it’s important to have this sort of thing…

Let's talk about the NYPD and rape.
(TRIGGER WARNING) I’m not sure if you heard, but two NYPD cops were found not guilty of raping a woman they were supposed to give a ride home and a ride home only.  It sounded like a pretty easy case.  And then the verdict came yesterday.  Despite all the evidence over the course of testimony, the jury was not convinced that the victim and one of the cops had sex.  There was a lot of...

I’ve had this ongoing problem with political writers who do little more than rant about Glenn Beck in their columns.  It’s not that I’m defending Glenn Beck, obviously the focus on his advertisers worked…  it’s just my inkling that a lot of these “War Room” type writers spend so much time lambasting conservative circus clowns that they forget about promoting...

Rough Week for Fundamentalists Everywhere
afghanibanani: Whether it was a failed attempt at being rapture’d or listening to President Obama “throw Israel under the bus,” fundamentalism took a major punch in the gut this week. Both topics are of particular interest to me. My education in international relations thus far has instilled within me that the forces of Zionism are behind the decision making processes of US policy makers. As a...

One of the articles from last week’s Reading List revealed Newt Gingrich as a savvy fundraiser and generally busy guy, albeit one who hasn’t been involved in elected politics in some time.  He’s also a 1990’s Republican trying to make peace with a party that has shifted sharply rightward, he’s prone to gaffes, and he has a terrible history with his own marriages. ...
